13	그들이 예수의 말씀을 책잡으려 하여 바리새인과 헤롯당 중에서 사람을 보내매
14	와서 이르되 선생님이여 우리가 아노니 당신은 참되시고 아무도 꺼리는 일이 없으시니 이는 사람을 외모로 보지 않고 오직 진리로써 하나님의 도를 가르치심이니이다 가이사에게 세금을 바치는 것이 옳으니이까 옳지 아니하니이까
15	우리가 바치리이까 말리이까 한대 예수께서 그 외식함을 아시고 이르시되 어찌하여 나를 시험하느냐 데나리온 하나를 가져다가 내게 보이라 하시니
16	가져왔거늘 예수께서 이르시되 이 형상과 이 글이 누구의 것이냐 이르되 가이사의 것이니이다
17	이에 예수께서 이르시되 가이사의 것은 가이사에게, 하나님의 것은 하나님께 바치라 하시니 그들이 예수께 대하여 매우 놀랍게 여기더라
18	부활이 없다 하는 사두개인들이 예수께 와서 물어 이르되
19	선생님이여 모세가 우리에게 써 주기를 어떤 사람의 형이 자식이 없이 아내를 두고 죽으면 그 동생이 그 아내를 취하여 형을 위하여 상속자를 세울지니라 하였나이다
20	칠 형제가 있었는데 맏이가 아내를 취하였다가 상속자가 없이 죽고
21	둘째도 그 여자를 취하였다가 상속자가 없이 죽고 셋째도 그렇게 하여
22	일곱이 다 상속자가 없었고 최후에 여자도 죽었나이다
23	일곱 사람이 다 그를 아내로 취하였으니 부활 때 곧 그들이 살아날 때에 그 중의 누구의 아내가 되리이까
24	예수께서 이르시되 너희가 성경도 하나님의 능력도 알지 못하므로 오해함이 아니냐
25	사람이 죽은 자 가운데서 살아날 때에는 장가도 아니 가고 시집도 아니 가고 하늘에 있는 천사들과 같으니라
26	죽은 자가 살아난다는 것을 말할진대 너희가 모세의 책 중 가시나무 떨기에 관한 글에 하나님께서 모세에게 이르시되 나는 아브라함의 하나님이요 이삭의 하나님이요 야곱의 하나님이로라 하신 말씀을 읽어보지 하였느냐
27	하나님은 죽은 자의 하나님이 아니요 산 자의 하나님이시라 너희가 크게 오해하였도다 하시니라

Paying Taxes to Caesar

13 And they sent to him some of the Pharisees and some of the Herodians, to trap him in his talk. 14 And they came and said to him, “Teacher, we know that you are true and do not care about anyone’s opinion. For you are not swayed by appearances,¹ but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not? Should we pay them, or should we not?” 15 But, knowing their hypocrisy, he said to them, “Why put me to the test? Bring me a denarius² and let me look at it.” 16 And they brought one. And he said to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?” They said to him, “Caesar’s.” 17 Jesus said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they marveled at him.

The Sadducees Ask About the Resurrection

18 And Sadducees came to him, who say that there is no resurrection. And they asked him a question, saying, 19 “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife, but leaves no child, the man³ must take the widow and raise up offspring for his brother. 20 There were seven brothers; the first took a wife, and when he died left no offspring. 21 And the second took her, and died, leaving no offspring. And the third likewise. 22 And the seven left no offspring. Last of all the woman also died. 23 In the resurrection, when they rise again, whose wife will she be? For the seven had her as wife.”

24 Jesus said to them, “Is this not the reason you are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God? 25 For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. 26 And as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? 27 He is not God of the dead, but of the living. You are quite wrong.”
