시편 (Ps) 78:1 - 시편 (Ps) 78:8

1	내 백성이여, 내 율법을 들으며 내 입의 말에 귀를 기울일지어다
2	내가 입을 열어 비유로 말하며 예로부터 감추어졌던 것을 드러내려 하니
3	이는 우리가 들어서 아는 바요 우리의 조상들이 우리에게 전한 바라
4	우리가 이를 그들의 자손에게 숨기지 아니하고 여호와의 영예와 그의 능력과 그가 행하신 기이한 사적을 후대에 전하리로다
5	여호와께서 증거를 야곱에게 세우시며 법도를 이스라엘에게 정하시고 우리 조상들에게 명령하사 그들의 자손에게 알리라 하셨으니
6	이는 그들로 후대 곧 태어날 자손에게 이를 알게 하고 그들은 일어나 그들의 자손에게 일러서
7	그들로 그들의 소망을 하나님께 두며 하나님께서 행하신 일을 잊지 아니하고 오직 그의 계명을 지켜서
8	그들의 조상들 곧 완고하고 패역하여 그들의 마음이 정직하지 못하며 그 심령이 하나님께 충성하지 아니하는 세대와 같이 되지 아니하게 하려 하심이로다

Tell the Coming Generation

A Maskil¹ of Asaph.

1   Give ear, O my people, to my teaching;
    incline your ears to the words of my mouth!
2   I will open my mouth in a parable;
    I will utter dark sayings from of old,
3   things that we have heard and known,
    that our fathers have told us.
4   We will not hide them from their children,
    but tell to the coming generation
  the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might,
    and the wonders that he has done.
5   He established a testimony in Jacob
    and appointed a law in Israel,
  which he commanded our fathers
    to teach to their children,
6   that the next generation might know them,
    the children yet unborn,
  and arise and tell them to their children,
7     so that they should set their hope in God
  and not forget the works of God,
    but keep his commandments;
8   and that they should not be like their fathers,
    a stubborn and rebellious generation,
  a generation whose heart was not steadfast,
    whose spirit was not faithful to God.
