“Within a year...”

(16) “This is what the Lord says to me: Within one year, as a servant bound by contract would count it, all the splendor of Kedar will come to an end”

Today Isaiah speaks about Dumah and Arabia, and in verse 16 he especially mentioned about the future of Kedar. He said that all the glory of Kedar would come to an end within one year as a servant would be bound to a contract. Only a few of archers who were the worrier of Kedar would be survived.

What Isaiah means is that God had decided to judge these nations. God had stretched out His hand over them already and made them tremble. In one year God would destroy the pride people of Kedar. In the passage, Isaiah is saying that nothing could stop God from carrying out His plan which had been determined. Today’s message reminds me of the seriousness of not having right relationship with God and also not realizing the only security for our lives is in God. This reflection made me to admit that there are some mistakes I need to make them right. It demands me to deal with those issues instead of ignoring them. For the application I will ask the Lord Jesus to purge my thoughts of any self-centered motives and enable me to be faithful.
