(4) “The Lord will wash away the filth of the women of Zion; he will cleanse the bloodstains from Jerusalem by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire.”

Although Isaiah reminded people of Jerusalem would be like a ravaged woman, but today he is talking about the great news that all people who remained would go through the devastating judgment. He tells that those who left in Zion would be called holy. God would wash them of their filthy sins by a spirit of judgment. Isaiah is saying that the day is coming when the Lord would provide shade for Mount Zion. And He would spread His glory over them like a canopy covering the glorious place.

Today’s passage reminds the people of Israel that the day is coming when they would see the beautiful Branch of the Lord and the glorious presence of the Him among them. That day the children of the Lord find a refuge and a shelter from the storm and rain. But I notice that it is so crucial for me to be cleansed of my filthy sins before the day comes. And I could see the point why in the verse 4 Isaiah declares that the Lord will wash the filth from beautiful Zion and cleanse Jerusalem of its bloodstains.

The message tells me repeatedly about my sins are what kept me from experiencing the glorious grace of God. I need to be cleansed and purged of my sins to build up intimate fellowship with the Lord. With my sins forgiven and covered, I could be able to return to the Lord and be sheltered under His shadow. Today I will be parsing the Lord Jesus that He would be the One to restore me and lead me to the Father God. And I will thank Him for His patience and being my shelter even though I have forgotten about His presence and warnings sometimes.
