(12) “People, despite their wealth, do not endure; they are like the beasts that perish”

“Wisdom of knowing the truth…”

The passage today called everyone, rich and poor, to listen to what the Word had to say because these words were filled with wisdom and insight. If we would pay attention to the Word that speaks the wisdom of God, We would be able to understand the real truth of our lives.

The truth is that no one can redeem the life of another or pay God a ransom for his life. It is saying that our redemption do not come so easily because nobody can ever pay enough for his sin and by himself. We are called to answer for our evil behaviors when God comes to judge every one of us. So today’s message is challenging us what use our money and riches will be. It is telling us that the day is coming when our wealth will be of no use to us.

The passage is warning me that it is the fate of those who trust in themselves because of their wealth. Through my past experiences, I have seen me making the same mistakes when I had trusted in my wealth, not the Word of God. On the other hand, however, I have experienced that there would be a big differences if I pay my attention to the Word. Today’s message reminds me that we may suffer here on this world for the time being but the Lord Jesus already gave us a promise of eternal life in the presence of the God. So it is challenging me to see things from God’s perspective and live my current life preparing for the eternity.
