잠언(Prov.) 26:13 - 잠언(Prov.) 26:28

13	게으른 자는 길에 사자가 있다 거리에 사자가 있다 하느니라
14	문짝이 돌쩌귀를 따라서 도는 것같이 게으른 자는 침상에서 도느니라
15	게으른 자는 그 손을 그릇에 넣고도 입으로 올리기를 괴로워하느니라
16	게으른 자는 사리에 맞게 대답하는 사람 일곱보다 자기를 지혜롭게 여기느니라
17	길로 지나가다가 자기와 상관이 없는 다툼을 간섭하는 자는 개의 귀를 잡는 자와 같으니라
18	횃불을 던지며 화살을 쏘아서 사람을 죽이는 미친 사람이 있나니
19	자기의 이웃을 속이고 말하기를 내가 희롱하였노라 하는 자도 그러하니라
20	나무가 다하면 불이 꺼지고 말장이가 없어지면 다툼이 쉬느니라
21	숯불 위에 숯을 더하는 것과 타는 불에 나무를 더하는 것 같이 다툼을 좋아하는 자는 시비를 일으키느니라
22	남의 말하기를 좋아하는 자의 말은 별식과 같아서 뱃속 깊은 데로 내려가느니라
23	온유한 입술에 악한 마음은 낮은 은을 입힌 토기니라
24	원수는 입술로는 꾸미고 속으로는 속임을 품나니
25	그 말이 좋을지라도 믿지 말 것은 그 마음에 일곱 가지 가증한 것이 있음이니라
26	속임으로 그 미움을 감출지라도 그의 악이 회중 앞에 드러나리라
27	함정을 파는 자는 그것에 빠질 것이요 돌을 굴리는 자는 도리어 그것에 치이리라
28	거짓말 하는 자는 자기가 해한 자를 미워하고 아첨하는 입은 패망을 일으키느니라

Proverbs 26:13–28 (Listen)

13   The sluggard says, “There is a lion in the road!
    There is a lion in the streets!”
14   As a door turns on its hinges,
    so does a sluggard on his bed.
15   The sluggard buries his hand in the dish;
    it wears him out to bring it back to his mouth.
16   The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes
    than seven men who can answer sensibly.
17   Whoever meddles in a quarrel not his own
    is like one who takes a passing dog by the ears.
18   Like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows, and death
19   is the man who deceives his neighbor
    and says, “I am only joking!”
20   For lack of wood the fire goes out,
    and where there is no whisperer, quarreling ceases.
21   As charcoal to hot embers and wood to fire,
    so is a quarrelsome man for kindling strife.
22   The words of a whisperer are like delicious morsels;
    they go down into the inner parts of the body.
23   Like the glaze¹ covering an earthen vessel
    are fervent lips with an evil heart.
24   Whoever hates disguises himself with his lips
    and harbors deceit in his heart;
25   when he speaks graciously, believe him not,
    for there are seven abominations in his heart;
26   though his hatred be covered with deception,
    his wickedness will be exposed in the assembly.
27   Whoever digs a pit will fall into it,
    and a stone will come back on him who starts it rolling.
28   A lying tongue hates its victims,
    and a flattering mouth works ruin.
