“Where are your wise men now?”

(1) “A prophecy against Egypt: See, the LORD rides on a swift cloud and is coming to Egypt. The idols of Egypt tremble before him, and the hearts of the Egyptians melt with fear." 

“Where are your wise men now?”

After Isaiah spoke about Cush how God would break their pride and humble them, today he addresses a warning to powerful Egypt how it would be brought low. As a prophecy against Egypt, He begins by mentioning God is coming to Egypt. He will be riding on a swift cloud, and the hearts of the people of Egypt melt with fear. They would fight against each other because God would stir up hatred and distrust. Isaiah also talks about Egyptian leaders and describes them as nothing but fools and stupid. God has poured into them a spirit of dizziness, so all their suggestions are wrong. But they still boast to others of their wisdom.

Today’s message is portraying the miserable situation if God’s blessing would be removed from our lives. Also it shows how devastating my life would be if God removes His hands from me. The message again demands me to be spiritually awakened and understand how dependent I am on God for all things. Otherwise everything I have planned would fail and I would be in despair same as the Egyptians today. But going through this way, my pride would be broken so that I could surrender myself and come to Him. For the application today, I will remember how God made Himself known to the Egyptians in today’s passage.
