(15) “Does the ax raise itself above the person who swings it, or the saw boast against the one who uses it? As if a rod were to wield the person who lifts it up, or a club brandish the one who is not wood!”

In verse 12 says God would punish the king of Assyria for his pride when He had finished all his work using him against the Israelite. The king of Assyria boasted himself in front of God and others that he had accomplish everything by the strength of his own wisdom and hand. He even said no one could resist him while he took away the wealth of other nations and this pride was a serious offence to God. Isaiah prophesied that God would defeat him and therefore he would be humbled as the fire of God burned against his glory.

Today Isaiah said that this proud and powerful king of Assyria would be consumed like a fire consumes a forest. Isaiah was reminding us that how important it is to give God the credit for what He had done through us. It is so crucial in becoming ‘a good steward’ to remember that I am merely an axe in the hands of God, and being used ax could never boast its power than the person who uses it. The message I have received through the passage is that I am merely an instrument in His hands and must consider how the Lord has disciplined me in the past. Today I will try to be very careful of using my word not to boast and show up myself to others.
